The Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative is currently writing a proposal requesting funds to design and construct improvements along Santa Monica Boulevard and is seeking letters from community groups in support of said improvements (lighting, crosswalks, pocket park at Virgil).  A couple of years ago, LANI submitted a finished conceptual plan for Virgil between Santa Monica and Melrose.  We were able to prepare that conceptual plan with a grant we had received from Caltrans.  Below are park ideas for Santa Monica and Virgil created by that plan.   When LANI completes the grant proposal there will be a map of the area showing the 9 intersections for crosswalks, bus stop locations for security lighting and proposed park site.  Part of the grant funds would be used for stake holders to choose a designer and come up with the design of all these elements and prioritize the sites where these elements should go.
